Support provided by the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is confidential and discreet. We know it can be difficult to ask for help. We are here to support you in your time of need. Please contact Susan Durkin if you need assistance.
Each year the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry serves hundreds of individuals and families in need in our local community. In addition to feeding the hungry year round, we offer a Thanksgiving Basket program and an Adopt-a-Child program at Christmas time.
We cannot fulfill our mission to support those most in need without your support.
LOAVES AND FISHES FOOD PANTRY WE NEED YOUR HELP The Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry has been an active ministry of St. Blaise since 1990, following Jesus in feeding the hungry. We are blessed with many wonderful, hardworking, dedicated volunteers. I want to extend a big thank you to all our current volunteers, and I want to invite you to become one of us. In order to keep the food pantry running, we need more volunteers. We need help in several areas: you do not have to sign up for every week, only the dates you are available. Opportunities to help include: 1. Sort and weigh donated food and stock the shelves on Mondays from 8:30 to 10:30 am. (any amount of time is helpful) 2. Pick up donated food from BJ’s and deliver to the food pantry on Monday mornings 3. Unloading of the food we receive from our monthly GBFB deliveries on the first Monday of every month (excluding Monday holidays) at 9:00 am. The food is packaged in large containers and can be heavy (20-30 lbs.) Some details about your Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. Our mission is to help reduce hunger. Currently, we are serving 80-90 households weekly; households made up of children, adults, seniors, the infirm, veterans, and those who are homeless. We also provide food to those who need assistance on an emergency basis. Over the past year, we have provided over 8,000 bags of food to those in need. If you are able to assist the food pantry, or you find yourself in need of assistance, or you just want some information, please contact me at 508-966-2862 or at [email protected]. With Many Thanks, Sue Durkin, Director of Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry and Rosemarie Marsh, Food Pantry Coordinator
